So this is one of the projects I've been working on recently (I created this promo video). It's called Film Your Issue, an outreach effort for 18-26 year olds to submit films that speak about social issues that are important to them. I think the more people film their issues, and get it out there/ here for others to see, the better. Right?

The Independent Magazine: On Vlogging

Danielle DiGiacomo recently wrote an article on vlogging for The Independent (magazine of the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers), featuring some of the girls in the vlogosphere. The article includes me alongside Ryanne Hodson, Jan McLaughlin, and Charlene Rule - all really cool ladies and I recommend that you visit their sites and keep a regular eye on them, they're all prone to mischief. :)

BTW, seeing as I love anagrams, here's one for you: Videoblog!=Do Love Big!

The Cause and Effect of the Moving Image

One of the reasons I love paintings and photography and film is the power they have to move us. A painting can inspire an idea, a photograph can tell us multiple stories in one frame, and at its best, a movie can motivate us to social action.

Some time back, I interviewed Micki Krimmel and Daniel Hengeveld of Participate.net, the online community of Participant Productions - a film company with the mission to make the world a better place through the power of the moving image. With films like Syriana, Good Night and Good Luck, North Country, Murderball, and others, they really are taking a stand and letting it be known that a movie can be both good and raise public awareness about important issues in our society.

So if you have a moment, go over to the site, sign up, and see what role you can take to help out.
